James Ford

Burrows Harbour

D-131 (240 acres, Jul 1st 1790)

James Ford. Origin: Loyalist

“Major James Ford of Cheraws” appears on a list of “Militia Officers at Present Refugees in Charlestown South Carolina” in 1782, in Loyalists of the Southern Campaign. As Major Andrew Deveaux of Granville County, also a recipient of land on Long Island, is on that list we assume this is the James Ford that received land on Long Island. James was granted 240 acres of in the Burrows Harbour area of Long Island on 1 July 1790.
